A to Z Challenge: Friends like these

This post is part of the April A-Z Blogging Challenge. This year my theme is simply, "things I know." Some posts will be informational, some about life lessons, some about things I've learned as an author/blogger.

Friends like these are hard to find!
I have been blessed with some amazing friends, in 'real' life and online. I've always loved the saying about friends being the family that you choose, because that is definitely how I feel about it. My best friends are as dear to me as my family. They are kind, they are always there for me, and I wouldn't trade them for the world!

Heidi, Tara, Ari and me
I mean, how could you not love faces like these? These are my best friends from graduate school. They are inspiring to me both personally and professionally and I am thankful every day that I have these incredible women in my life.

Who are the special people in your life? How did you meet your friend-family members?

(I am away at a conference for work this week, so I apologize if I do not respond to comments in a timely manner! I will try to respond to everyone next weekend! :) ~AJ )

  2. A special tribute to your friends, and the photo is as priceless as their friendships. Lifelong friends are extra special, and I have several....can not imagine life without them. Thanks for the reminder of how special 'Friends' are...I'm going to contact mine and tell them so.

  3. What a lovely photo, you all look so close and happy. I love my family so much, even the ones who annoy, but you are so right about friends being the family you choose, mine are actual gems in my mind.

  4. I wrote about friendship to for f! Great minds think alike. I don't have many actual friends in close proximity. My husband is my best friend. I would love to have a few confidants, but, so far, that hasn't happened. I like the photo. You are blessed.

    Best regards,
    Elizabeth

  5. My best friend is my husband. He, along with my daughter and my son, are the only three people I trust completely. Trust is very important me.

  9. Stopping by from the A to Z Challenge. What a great F post. I so agree with you about your friends - they are so important. I'm happy to say I still have friends from grammar school even though it's been decades and I live across the country.

  11. Husband - online in a role-playing game. IRL in the Greyhound Station in SLC.
DS1 - they wheeled his bassinet into my room the day after he was born and shut the door. I peered over the side and thought to myself, "What am I supposed to do NOW?"
DS2 - they put him into my arms right after he was born and that shocked me. It was also VERY cool!
DD - in the NICU the day after she was born. She was tiny. I was scared. I got violently ill in one of the NICU hand-washing stations on the way out.

I met several mom-friends at church where we lived until last summer, but they moved away, then I moved away.

Have a great trip, AJ. Stay safe!

  12. I haven't had any close friends since moving away from my home town, 800 miles away... It seems my closest friends and I have lost touch and finding new ones is challenging. Though I do have 2 sisters and at this point in my life, they are the best friends one could ever have...

  14. I love my friends. Some of my best memories are of hanging out and having a laugh with them. We've all stayed in touch since high school and I can't wait to see them all again at my wedding next month-especially one of my friends who is travelling all the way from Canada to England for the wedding. It will be a great reunion :)

Your friends look really fun and I like the dresses.

  18. I consider myself really lucky that I've got a large number of good friends, of whom a few are extremely close.
When it comes to friends and friendship, my favourite quote is this one by Zig Ziglar: "If you go out looking for friends, you're going to find they're very scarce. If you go out to be a friend, you'll find them everywhere."
