Kindle Countdown Deal Starts Friday!!

First of all, how in the WORLD is it possible that it's already June??

Now that that's out of my system, this week's thing I learned about Pirates:
If you ever need to know anything about pirates (or dinosaurs, or space, or rocks, or bugs..) ask a mother who has a kid that is interested in the topic. They can tell you more in less time than even a visit to the library!
And, the big news in the Armageddon: Pick Your Plot world! We are having our very first Kindle Countdown Deal starting this Friday, June 5th! If you haven't already gotten a Kindle copy of Armageddon, this is a great opportunity. On June 5 and 6, Armageddon will be on sale for only $0.99!! I'm so excited. Check out some reviews and quotes:

And lastly, if you haven't already, please sign up for my email list here! When you sign up you'll be able to download a FREE copy of Percy's Armageddon: Pick Your Plot Prequel, which is perfect to whet your whistle for the sale on Friday!

I'll post a reminder on Friday. Have a great week, everyone :)

Read Tuesday 2014!

At our book-signing in Madison.
This is me and my co-author Dan. We both read - a LOT. We love books, and words, and well, that's probably why we wrote a book together :)

This year we decided to participate in a great event called Read Tuesday, which is like Black Friday for books. During most Black Friday events, books are NOT discounted by retailers. Especially those offered by indie publishers like us. That's why we've joined ranks with other authors to offer our awesome book at a discount! We want to help other lovers of words get as many great books as possible (for themselves, and as gifts this holiday season!).

Starting today, and going through the rest of the month, we are running two deals on our book, Armageddon: Pick Your Plot:

1) Kindle Matchbook - Buy a hardcopy of Armageddon here on Amazon, and you will receive a FREE Kindle copy! This is a great option for gifting - one copy to wrap, one to keep for yourself!

2) CreateSpace - Use discount code 9T62RFQ3 to get 30% off your copy of Armageddon at CreateSpace. This is a good option if you're not interested in receiving the Kindle book at Amazon.

Thank you for your support of us, or any of the other authors participating this year. Happy Read Tuesday!
(Check out the list of Authors, or deals separated by Createspace, Matchbook, Smashwords, or Kindle countdown!)

Author conversations

When we ask people what ending they find first in our book, a majority of them tell us they found a certain ending that involves dwarves. This has been a source of great entertainment over the last 7 weeks, and yet again tonight a friend who just got her book shared the same thing.

And lo, the wisdom of my co-author Dan:

me:  Jess found the dwarf ending first too. What is it about that ending??
 Daniel:  Lesbians and free will.

That's right. Choosing lesbians & Free Will gets you Dwarves. Yeah, our book is awesome.

Bean Fosters

Bean Fosters, the aforementioned local book/coffee shop, posted this picture on their FB page today with the caption, "Just rotated our new arrivals table! It now includes Armageddon: Pick Your Plot, a "choose your own adventure" concerning the apocalypse by a local author - it's provided much entertainment..."

They seemed a little hesitant when I called about selling our book (which I totally understand b/c I was just some random person haha) but I was so happy when I met the owner Truett because he's so nice and was super supportive. Am looking forward to spending more time at Bean Fosters. They are just far enough off campus to be a good hiding spot, and have the best hot cocoa in town! Mmmm...

Six Word Saturday

Indy author publicity -
mistakes, learning, winning.

Now that we have the book published, we've started doing more 'publicity' and figuring out our (my) branding. Yes, I know people say we should have started that before we actually published.. But this is one of those hindsight things :)

Have spent a bunch of time getting the book and our author pages (me, Dan) up on Goodreads, and this week I contacted a small local bookstore about carrying some copies. They didn't sound too optimistic, but offered to start with three and see how we do! It seems that previous attempts with local authors involved prices that were prohibitively high, so they were pleased at our low price and at our nostalgia factor. Hopefully it works out!
